Toyota Prius History
Toyota Prius was a hybrid sedan and hatchback duo that was released in 2001; it's been a member of both the subcompact and compact classes since then. Initially, the car came in a single trim, base, and it incorporated a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine.
Skip ahead to 2007, and you could get a continuously variable (CVT) transmission, plus features ranging from anti-lock brakes, air conditioning, and a rear windshield wiper to alloy wheels, a larger rear spoiler, Xenon headlights, fog lights, and more. Fast-forward once more to 2022, and you'll find that L Eco, LE, Limited, and XLE trims have become available, each with a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine. Features have included the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 safety tech suite, push-button ignition, and LED daytime running lights, plus Advanced Technology and Premium Convenience packages. The former added a color head-up display, navigation, adaptive front lighting, and more, while the latter added titanium-finish alloy wheels and a power moonroof, among other features.
Top Toyota Prius Accessories
New or gently used, your hybrid could always use a little customization. Our top options include:
Cargo solutions. From organizers to trays and nets, cargo solutions make it easy to take what you need along for the ride -- and to keep those items secure throughout your drive.
Sunshades. While sun visors are useful, sunshades offer greater protection from the sun's harsh UV rays and rising temperatures. They're especially helpful for our fellow Texans during our hot, humid summers.
Splash guards. Also known as mud flaps or mud guards, splash guards keep road muck, water, and debris away from your wheel wells and undercarriage. That keeps your wheels turning freely while also helping to prevent rust or corrosion setting in.
